Miguelina Rivera-Martinez, 74, returned home to the Lord on August 23, 2013. The third of nine children, "Mima" was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico on May 13, 1939 to Isaac and Amalia Rivera.
She spent her youth in Cayey and then migrated to Vineland, NJ, where she became a long time Vineland resident. She was employed by the Vineland Developmental Center and retired after 25 years of service. Mima was a devout member of the Vineland Spanish Pentecostal Church Assemblies of God on Third and Quince.
In Mima's free time, she loved playing bingo, dominoes, gardening, fishing, and crabbing. She enjoyed taking all of her grandchildren to the Cowtown Rodeo, shopping, getting manicures, cooking for family, watching old Western Movies, and spending time with her dog Casey.
Mima will be loved and greatly missed by her large family that extends from New York to Puerto Rico. She is predeceased by the father of her children; Miguel Cruz, her husband; Victor Martinez, brothers; Miguel Lopez and Isaac Rivera, and sister; Maria Rosado.
Mima is survived by five children; Hiram, Beltran, Miguelito "George", Peggy Rivera-De La Rosa, and David Rivera; eleven grandchildren; Jose Rosario III, Jessica Lopez, Julie Lopez, Miguelito Rivera Jr, Johnathan Rivera, Porsha Rivera, Melanie Rivera, Skye De La Rosa, Chasity Rivera, David Rivera II, and Bryson Rivera, ten great grandchildren, two brothers; Avelino and Carlos Rivera, and three sisters; Andrea Lopez, Juaquina, and Carmen Rivera. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A viewing will be held at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave, Vineland, NJ on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 from 6pm-8pm. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Chestnut Assembly of God, where the family will be greeting friends and relatives from 9 until 11am, with funeral services following at 11am. Interment will follow at Siloam Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Spanish Pentecostal Assembly of God Church, 512 S. Third St., Vineland, NJ 08360.
