Genara Melendez 84 of Vineland passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the Inspira Medical Center, Vineland. Born in Humacao, Puerto Rico, Genara was a homemaker who used to babysit the neighborhood kids.
She enjoyed sewing and was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Vineland.
She is predeceased by her father, Leocardio Alvarez, her husband, Ismael Melendez and a sister, Cecilia Alvarez.
She is survived by:
3 sons: Ismael Melendez, Jr.
David Melendez and wife Shelley
Jorge Melendez
1 daughter: Maria Melendez
Her mother: Guadalupe Jimenez DeLeon, who is 104 years old
3 sisters: Gloria "Mayin" Rojas
Luz Celenia Marquez
Ana Celia Alvarez
3 brothers: Victor and Ricardo DeLeon
Leocardio Alvarez, Jr.
Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11am at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 230 W. Chestnut Ave., Vineland. Genara will be laid to rest at Siloam Cemetery, Vineland. Friends will be received on Monday morning at the church from 9am to 11am. Arrangements are by DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland.
