Aida Luz Torres Mercado, age 59, of Vineland, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Cape Regional Hospital surrounded by her three daughters. Born in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, she came to the United States in 1995.
She worked at Claridge Casino for several years prior to becoming a nursing home resident. Aida was a hardworking, caring and loving woman who loved to read the bible and worshiping the Lord. She also enjoyed cooking, taking care of the elderly and spending time with her family.
Aida is survived by three daughters; Brenda Ramos, Madeline Horner (John) and Olga Ramos. Three grandchildren; Efrain J. Arce, Steven W. Beltran and Joshua N. Ortiz. She also leaves behind numerous brothers and sisters, mostly residing in Puerto Rico.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1pm at the DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland. Aida will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland. Friends will be received on Thursday evening from 6pm to 8pm and again on Friday morning from 11am-1pm at the funeral home.
