Obituary of Clare H. James

Clare Houlihan James of Buena, New Jersey, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 15, 2014, after a lengthy illness. Clare was born in Red Bank, New Jersey and she was raised in the town of the West End, NJ. Clare was the youngest of 6 children born to Joseph & Catherine Houlihan. She attended & graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School & All Soul's Hospital nursing program in Morristown New Jersey as a Registered Nurse. Clare worked as a registered nurse for over 32 years in various hospitals in New Jersey and later retired from the Millville Hospital. In retirement Clare chased the sun and beach between homes in Ocean City New Jersey and Boynton Beach Florida. Clare was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants and the fighting Irish of Notre Dame. She was a passionate supporter of the Daughters of Mercy & St. Augustine Prep. Clare was a loving wife, very proud mother, grandmother & great-grandmother who enjoyed life with her family, hosting Sunday family dinners, going to the beach and attending her grandchildren's school and sporting events. She was married to the love of her life Robert L. James Sr. for over 53 wonderful years. Together they raised four children, Mariclare James of Richland, Robert L. James Jr. (Sharon) of Minotola, Kathryn James Lipcan (Michael) of Branford, CT, Suzi James Wescott (Steve) of Buena. In addition Clare is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Melissa A. Stavoli, Amanda K. Stavoli (fiancé Adam), Jennifer M. Stavoli (Jason), Sarah E. Stavoli (Dan), Robert L. James III, Courtney A. James, Brendan J. Wescott and Josephine Q. Lipcan. Also, Clare is survived by 2 great-grandchildren, Brycen V. Stavoli & Alannah A. Gribble. Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Monday April 21, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 South Lincoln Avenue, Vineland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11am at the Chapel of the Daughters of Mercy 1009 North Main Road, Newfield New Jersey. A viewing will be held 1 hour prior to mass from 9:30 to 10:30 at the CHAPEL. Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery Union Road. East Vineland. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine Prep and the Daughters of Mercy.
