Obituary of Eunice Castillo

Eunice Castillo, 77, of Vineland, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2012. Ms. Castillo was born in Filandia, Colombia on November 20, 1934. After completing high school, she studied at a biblical seminary and also became a certified nurse's aide. She worked in a hospital in Colombia for many years. She was married to Jose Manuel Castillo, of Colombia, for 32 years. The couple came to the United States with their children in 1974, and settled in Miami, FL. During her time in Miami, Eunice worked at the Pasteur Clinic and at Levolor. In addition, she became an Avon Representative in her community, achieving many honors and awards for high sales in her 32 years of service. After her first husband passed away, she remarried to Otniel E. Viera, a childhood friend, in 1999. He had been widowed in 1998. Eunice joined Otniel in Vineland, where she continued to be actively involved in the community. She continued to sell Avon products, and continued achieving high performance. She and her husband were involved in the formation of New Hope Baptist Church of Vineland, Inc. They enjoyed meeting with friends and neighbors and also participated in a number of community programs, including ESL classes, and at the senior center. She is survived by three brothers, Pablo Pasmio, Silas Pasmio, Samuel Pasmio of Colombia; 4 children, Luz Stella Sarsosa (Oscar), Dolly Rojas (Emilio), Jose Castillo (Maribeth), and Beatriz Hortencia Cruz (Nibaldo) of Miami; eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews as well her stepchildren in New Jersey. She was predeceased by her sister, Ruth Pasmio de Viera in 2011. A viewing will be held on Monday, Feb. 20, from 6-9 pm at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, Lincoln Ave, Vineland. A second viewing will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 9-11 am at Faith Bible Church, Chestnut Ave, Vineland. Ms. Castillo will rejoin her family in Miami after the viewing. .
