Obituary of Hipolito Flores

Hipólito Flores, 84 was called home to the Lord on Saturday, November 28, 2015. He was the oldest son of twelve children born on April 10, 1931 to Martin and Anastasia Flores in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. Early in his youth, Hipólito left Puerto Rico. By the time he was 18 years old, he had come to the United States and began working in Chicago, Illinois in 1949. He came to Iona Lake and Vineland, New Jersey in 1951 where he met and married Isabel Figueroa. They had two children. The family lived in Vineland for a few years, moved to New York and later returned to Vineland. Hipólito worked at and retired from Shieldalloy Corporation in Newfield after 26 years in 1989.
Hipólito had a great love for his family. His greatest happiness was visiting his family - sisters, brothers, cousins, he always looked for and cared for his family. He loved talking with his siblings, their spouses, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When he wasn't with family he would visit friends and work buddies. He loved watching baseball, especially his favorite team the New York Mets. When the family got together, he was always talking about baseball. He also enjoyed the outdoors and watching the old TV shows, comedies, and westerns.
Hipólito was predeceased by his parents, sisters, Justina, Amelia, Galo, Marcelina, Juana, Candida, and brother Mariano. His son Nelson Flores and his former wife Isabel Figueroa also died in 2012 and most recently, his brother-in-law Jose Luis Moran and nephew Victor Flores.
He is survived by his daughter Wilma Lopez, step-son Octavio Moran and wife Lydia of New York, grandchildren Melissa Capelli, Luis M. Lopez and wife Robyn of Vineland, Isaias Moran and wife Bernice of New York, Nelson Flores Jr. of Millville, Aisha Johnson of Providence, Rhode Island and Candace Rivera and husband Jose of Egg Harbor City. Great-grandchildren are Dominic Capelli, Brianna and Brooklyn Lopez, Chloe and Isaias Moran, Jr., Jose Rivera, Jr., Romeo, Alysia, and Xavier Johnson. Other survivors include his sisters María Flores Gomez and her husband Jose, Lucresia Díaz, brother Antonio Flores, his sister-in-law Antonia Gomez, his Godchildren Maria Mercedes Gomez and Nelson Flores of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, as well as his sister Mercedes Moran of Hawthorne, New Jersey, his Goddaughter Mardy DeLeon Palmer and many, many loved nieces and nephews living in New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Florida, and Puerto Rico. They were all special to him.
A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday at 12noon at Divine Mercy Parish, St. Francis of Assisi Church, 23 W. Chestnut Ave., Vineland. Burial will be private. Family and friends will be received on Thursday morning from 10am to 11:45am at the CHURCH. The family wishes to thank everyone at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, Lincoln Specialty Care Center nurses and aides who attended my dad, Dr. David Galetto, Dr. Rekha Seghal, and everyone who offered expressions of sympathy, prayers and good wishes.
