Obituary of Anthony J. Peretti

Please share a memory of Anthony to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anthony "Tony" J. Peretti, Sr., age 77, passed away peacefully, with his wife of 58 years by his side, on Saturday, February 20, 2016. He was born in Minotola, spent his summers as a child in Piney Hollow, attended Vineland High, and married his prom date, Frances (Liberto). He led a full life: a solider in the Army and then the National Guard Reserves, President of the Newfield Jaycees, Scoutmaster in the Boy Scout of America, bike hike helper for many summers, and headed to the casinos whenever the mood hit him. He worked at Robert Hall, Winslow Pharmacy, and Sears, but finally found his calling as produce manager, where he served for 42 years at various supermarkets, including Food Fair/Pantry Pride, Thriftway, Shop N Bag, and ending his career at the same location, which by then was a D'Nauros. During this, he assisted his wife during her ownership of Wheat Road Cold Cuts. He was the first to smile at you as you entered the store- always telling you he was "Fantastic!" His favorite job was being a father to his four children and Pop to his six grandchildren, always asking for their best and he being proud of all they accomplished. You could find him in the garden, giving tractor rides, planning another vacation trip, or enjoying the summer night in his gazebo. He is survived by his wife, Frances (Liberto), his children and their spouses; Daniel and Lori Peretti of Vineland, Anthony Jr. and Terrie Peretti of Vineland, Brian and Kimberly Peretti of Arlington, VA, and Brenda and Gene Walenczyk of Bel Air, MD; his loving grandchildren; Danny Peretti and fiancée Kelsey Allen, Kelsey Peretti, Chris Walenczyk, Henry Walenczyk, Davian Peretti, and Juliana Peretti; sisters, Jerry Zorzi and Rosalie Ruberti, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased in death by his parents, Joseph & Rose (Goffredi), his sister, Lorraine Trapani, brother-in-laws, Carlo Trapani, Raymond Zorzi, and Ronald Ruberti, and his Godson, Bret Zorzi. Friends and relatives will be received on Tuesday, February 23 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland. They may also be received at Our Lady of The Blessed Sacrament Parish, St. Rose of Lima Church, 104 Catawba Ave., Newfield on Wednesday, February 24 from 9 am to 10:45 am, followed by mass at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Anthony's Godson, Bret Zorzi, to the America Brain Tumor Association at www.abta.org.
