Skwarlo, K. Michael, 75, of Egg Harbor Twp. died August 11, 2012 at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland after a valiant struggle with Alzheimer's. From the time he was a young student in Virginia, his love of music ran deep. Mike served his country in the Navy and he was in the NATO band in Italy.
He was a music educator at Mainland Regional H.S. from 1966-1995 and touched the lives of thousands of students. After retiring, Mike founded and conducted the Atlantic Pops Community Band in 1997. He continued to conduct the band through 2003 and is presently Director Emeritus.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Janice (nee Knestaut), his sons, K. Michael II and Stephen both of Egg Harbor Twp. He is also survived by a sister, Donna Kootner of Virginia.
Friends may attend a memorial celebration of Mike's life on Saturday, August 18, 2012 from 2pm to 4pm at the DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 Lincoln Ave. in Vineland.
