Obituary of Joseph S. Williams

Joseph S. Williams, Sr., 71 of Vineland, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Inspira Medical Center, Vineland surrounded by his loving family, after a short battle with cancer. Born on October 22, 1944 in Philadelphia, Pa., Joseph was a veteran of the United States Navy from 1965 to 1969 on the USS Glennon, DD 840, during the Vietnam War. He married his best friend, Virginia on September 6, 1969 and retired in 2014 from Vineland Construction (National Freight) where he worked for over 35 years. He was a Little League Baseball coach (Newfield Little League) for 15 years where he watched his son's play ball. Joseph loved spending time with his wife and family and was a true role model and mentor to everyone who came into his life. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan and enjoyed watching the games with his wife and family. He also enjoyed traveling to Florida with his wife. He is predeceased by his mother, Clara D. Wetzel; father, William F. Williams; his wife of 45 years Virginia C. (Petrilli) Williams; brothers and sisters, William, Walter, Harry, William Jr. and Claire. Joseph is survived by his sons, Joseph Jr. (Wendy) and Christopher; grandchildren, Madelynn and Jeffrey; brothers and sister, Dorothy, John, Fred, Rodger and Edward and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11am at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland. Joseph will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland. Family and friends will be received on Saturday morning from 9am to 11am at the funeral home.
