Catalina Baez, 76 of Vineland, died Saturday, August 18, 2012 at home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico on April 30, 1936. Catalina was employed by the Bureau of Parole for the State of New Jersey as a secretary for 17 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Jadiz Porrata of New York, and two granddaughters, Arianna Porrata of New York and Almayra Porrata of Vineland, her sisters, Elia and Rosa Baez both of Vineland, Hilda Costa of Vineland and a brother, Santos Baez of New Jersey, as well as many other nephews and nieces.
Catalina enjoyed traveling and the opportunities it offered to learn about other people and cultures. One of her greatest joys was to gather with her extended family for social gatherings, deriving great pleasure from the simple things life had to offer.
As an active member of Jehovah's Witnesses, sharing her faith with others was an important and integral part of her life.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 2:30pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 225 E. Oak Road, Vineland. Burial will be private. Friends will be received on Saturday at the hall from 1pm to 2:30pm. Arrangements are by DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland.
