Honorable Jose "Joe" A. LaBoy 63 of Ventnor, NJ and formerly of Vineland, died Tuesday evening, August 28, 2012 at the SJ Regional Medical Center, with his family by his side. Born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, he had moved to Vineland in 1957. Joe is a graduate of Vineland High School, Temple University Law School and Georgetown University Law School.
Joe was Atlantic County workers compensation supervising judge and was a past judge for Bridgeton and Camden. Joe helped found the Hispanic Political Caucus, served as Vineland's public defender and was the first Hispanic elected to the City Council in 1988. He also was a partner in Adamo, Pagliughi, LaBoy, & Tonetta, Law Firm in Vineland. He enjoyed living in Ventnor and walking the boardwalk, spending time with his friends. Joe loved his job up until the moment he passed, but most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and family. His favorite quote was, "LIVE EVERYDAY LIKE ITS YOUR LAST."
Joe is predeceased by his parents, Federico and Mercedes (Serrano) LaBoy, 6 brothers, Gilbert, Laureno, Esteven D., Juan, Jose E., and Eulogio LaBoy, 3 sisters, Gloria LaBoy Gonzalez, Anna Mendez, and Panchita LaBoy.

A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 11am at Divine Mercy Parish, St. Francis of Assisi Church, Vineland. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland. Friends will be received on Friday from 6pm to 9pm at the DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland and again on Saturday at the church from 9am to 10:45am.
