Obituary of Augusta Assunta Cerana

Augusta Assunta (Chini) Cerana, 95, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday evening, December 27, 2016. She was born in Segno, Italy and migrated to the United States in 1936. Augusta and her family lived in Brooklyn, New York, then moved to Dennison, Ohio, where she met her husband, John L. Cerana, of 75 years. She and John raised three children, John R. Cerana, Linda (Cerana) Barth, and Randy Cerana. Augusta and John moved their family to Vineland, New Jersey in 1960, where they resided for 66 years.
Augusta spent a large part of her time in the garden, attending to her fruits, vegetables, and flowers. She especially loved her roses that blossomed throughout the yard. Augusta enjoyed baking and cooking, always using her family recipes. She made certain to spend time with all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Augusta was a member of St. Padre Pio Parish and donated her time working at the St. Padre Pio Festival for many years.
Augusta is survived by her husband John L. Cerana, son John R. Cerana (Carol), daughter Linda Barth (Joseph), son Randy Cerana (Dawn), sister Hilda Stringari; grandchildren, Rodney Cerana (Meryl), Tracy Wittenberger (John), Kimberly Carluzzo (Jim), Kyle Cerana, Kerry Cerana; great-grandchildren, Grace Cerana, Lucy Cerana, Emily Cerana, Dominic Cerana, Aubrey Wittenberger, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Pio Chini, mother Emma, brother Raymond Chini, brother Norman Chini (Rita), brother-in-law Frank Stringari, and grandson Brian Peterson.
A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11am at St. Padre Pio Parish, 4680 Dante Ave., Vineland. Burial will be private. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 10am to 11am at the CHURCH. Donations in memory of Augusta may be made to St. Padre Pio Parish or a Charity of your choice.
