Obituary of Sylvia M. Medina

Sylvia Maria (Otero) Medina, 85 of Millville, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at home with her loving family by her side. Born on March 23, 1932 in Bronx, New York, she moved to Millville, NJ with her family in 1951. Prior to her marriage, she worked at Wheaton Glass Company.

Sylvia married Ernesto C. Medina in 1960, and was a homemaker from then on and an active member of Fairton Christian Center.

Taking care of her "babies" was what brought most joy to her life along with staying as close to Jesus as one could be in this life.

She is predeceased by her parents, Juan Alberto and Maria (Macias) Otero, two sisters, Gladys Aviles and Fiorina Hastings.

Sylvia is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ernesto "Rubio" Medina; one daughter, Marlene Fischer (Bob) of Vineland; one son, Ernest Medina of Houston, Texas; one granddaughter, Jenna (Michael) McCaffrey of Vineland; two grandsons, John (Kathy) Smaniotto, of Bellefonte, PA, and Jeff (Michelle) Smaniotto, of Cape May Court House; three great grandchildren; Johnny Smaniotto, June McCaffrey and Lucas Smaniotto; one sister, Lydia Parisi of Millville and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:30am at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland. Sylvia will be laid to rest at Greenwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Millville. Family and friends will be received on Thursday morning from 9:30am to 11:30am at the funeral home.
