My name is Anna and I live in Liverpool, England. I met Francisca over 20 years ago when I came to the US with my good friend, Alice, Francisca's daughter whom I had met in Turkey whilst teaching. From the first day I met her she made me feel so welcome it was like I had known her a lifetime. And it was just the same when she met my son, Troy (now 7 years old) 4 years ago - he really loved her and just the other day he said to me, "She's like my grandma". We had a lot of fun together. It was often a competition of wits and sarcasm with Francisca and I have so many happy memories of time spent chatting with her in her garden or the very important kitchen. She was a woman so generous and yet so humble that you just had to accept everything she had to give.
Over the years I visited the US around 6 or 7 times mainly because Francisca and her wonderful husband, Alberto, made me feel so at home and they are both responsible for my thicker waist knowing how much I liked cheesecake! Although she had to leave out the meat (as I'm vegetarian) she made the best rice and beans I have ever tasted.
She lived a true and honest life and that is all one can wish for. I love her deeply and will miss her always. I send my love to all those who have loved her and think them very fortunate to have known her.
Adios Francisca,
Anna
