Obituary of Joseph E. Polhamus

Joseph E. Polhamus of Vineland, age 92, died Friday, September 28, 2012 at Bishop McCarthy Residence. Born in Millville, he was a lifelong resident of Vineland.
He owned and operated his own construction company for many years and later served as Traffic Safety Coordinator for Cumberland County for 16 years.
Joseph was past president of the Vineland Kiwanis Club, former advisor to the Key Club of Vineland High School, and past council member of the Boys Scouts. He also served on the Cumberland Co. Cultural and Heritage Commission and as past chairman of the City of Vineland Democratic Organization. Joseph enjoyed boating, fishing, and helping the Boy Scouts.
He is predeceased by his wife Ruth (Behler) and two sisters, Katherine DeMartino and Fern Wood.
He is survived by his five children: Joseph E. Polhamus, Jr. (Beth) of Linwood, Daniel Polhamus (Irene Graham) of Vineland, Anne Swain (Kenneth) of Pittsgrove, Valerie Polhamus of Vineland, and John Polhamus (Nancy) of Glassboro. He is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 11am in Christ The Good Shepherd Parish, Sacred Heart Church, Vineland. Burial will be private. Friends will be received on Wednesday morning at the church from 9:30am to 10:45am.
