Obituary of Kathleen A. Herman

Kathleen A. Herman (nee Rice), age 77 of Vineland, NJ, left this life after a brief battle with leukemia, on May 26, 2018 with her loving husband of 55 years, Ellsworth, by her side and her three surviving children, Jill, Bruce and Kirk. Kathleen's greatest loves of her life were her husband, children and grandchildren. Kathleen was a Registered Nurse for 50 plus years, loved reading, the beach and her Irish heritage. Kathleen also had a deep devotion for friends and family, especially for her cousin Mary Vianni, who she was like a big sister to and friend of 50 plus years, Jane Smith. Kathleen was born April 3, 1941. She was a lifelong resident of Vineland, NJ, graduating from Sacred Heart High School, Class of 1959. She graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in Trenton, NJ in 1962. She worked for Millville, Newcomb and South Jersey Health Care as a PACU nurse for over 40 years before retiring. Kathleen is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ellsworth "Blackie" Herman of Vineland; her children, daughter Jill (Herman) and son in law, Robert LaBoy, son Bruce and daughter in law, Renee Herman and son Kirk Herman, Sr; grandchildren, Kirk Herman, Jr, Karl Herman, Kyle Herman, Cassie Herman, Noah Herman and Gabrielle LaBoy; her brother, William and sister in law, Louise Rice and nephew, Zach Rice. She is predeceased by her beloved son, Kristopher Herman; parents, Frank and Marie (McDonald) Rice; sister, Anne Rice and daughter in law, Dawn (Sharp) Herman. The family would also like to thank the Ascend Hospice team for the help and support. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, Sacred Heart RC Church, 1010 E. Landis Ave, Vineland, NJ from 10am to 11am, with a funeral liturgy following at 11am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to ARC of Cumberland County at the Evanoff Center (arccumberland.org) or a charity of their choice.
