Obituary of Winston G. Clarke
Winston George Clarke, affectionately known as "Rob/Sonny" at age 86 was granted his eternal wings on July 28, 2018, at the Inspira Medical Center in Vineland, NJ. Mr Clarke was born in Free Hill St Mary, Jamaica, to the late Simon Clarke and Lizadora McCracken.
He was the third youngest of 10 children. Mr. Clarke was an industrious, generous, virtuous, hardworking gentleman. He immigrated to the United States from Jamaica in the early 1950's. His employment varied from substitute crossing guard with the Vineland School District, concierge at Trump Tower, Atlantic City, to successful entrepreneur with his own business.
Mr. Clarke enjoyed gardening and being in the company of his family and friends. He loved the Lord and maintained his faith in God to the end. He was a faithful member of the Chestnut Assembly of God Church and his deep sultry voice garnered him a favored position in the choir. His clever, witty spirit, kind-heartedness, and amicable personality will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
Mr. Clarke was preceded in death by his second wife, Geraldine Pierce-Clarke; two sisters, Leila and Maude and brothers, Hector, Hasting, Harold and Sylburn Clarke.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his first wife, Kathleen Beckford Clarke; his children, Angella Clarke and Jasmine Pierre; his stepchildren from his second marriage, Audrey Deans, James Mason, Dale Mason and Dawn Jones; brothers, Kenneth, and Enos; sisters, Janet and Birdie; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nephews and nieces.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the Chestnut Assembly of God Church, 2554 E. Chestnut Ave., Vineland from 9am to 10am with a Funeral Service following at 10am. Winston will be laid to rest at the Gouldtown Cemetery, Gouldtown. Family and friends are invited to gather for the repass from 1230pm to 4pm at the Church.
