Obituary of Salvatore Marchese

Salvatore Thomas "Big Man" Marchese Sr., 83, of Franklinville, NJ, passed away on October 31, 2019 surrounded by family. Sal was born on September 19, 1936 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to Marie and Salvatore Marchese (both predeceased). He went to high school at Dunmore High School and graduated in 1954. He went on to earn a degree in Education from Eastern Kentucky University. He worked as an educator and coach for Delsea Regional High School for 38 years. He enjoyed fitness, weight lifting, coaching and being a devoted member of his community. Sal was a pioneer for Delsea Regional High School and Franklin Township community. He received many awards and honors throughout the years. Sal was not only involved in the school system but was a pillar in the community of Franklin Township through his dedicated role in the Recreation Commission and Township Committee. He had a sense of pride in the school and community that went unmatched. He never missed a game, never missed an opportunity to help the kids, and certainly never missed an opportunity to help the school and community in any possible way. Although this was his passion his love and devotion to his family came first. Salvatore is survived by his wife Miriam, of Franklinville; his five children, Linda (Gary Colone), Debbie, Sal Jr (Joann), Paula (Frank Dente) and Gia (Jim Shimp) and was the loving grandfather of 12 grandchildren which were his pride and joy. Sal is also survived by his two sisters, Paulette (Frank Berardelli) and Joanne Brunori (predeceased Ralph Brunori). Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019 from 6pm-9pm and on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019 from 10am-12pm followed by a funeral service at 12pm at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S.
