May I extend my condolences and prayers to the family of cousin Louis “Butch” Battle. Joyce, our prayers are with you as you cherish the memories of your husband and cooking partner. On behalf of my family and our extended Cooper Family, we will be forever grateful for the memories and joy Butch brought to our Annual Cooper Family Reunion. From my first time visiting Vineland, NJ, I will never forget the warm welcome and hospitality you and your family extend to us. Butch brought that same hospitality and great food to NC on two occasions, once to eastern Virginia. May the memories and prayers from family and friends provide you strength in the days to come.

To my dear cousin Butch. To say we all will miss you back here is an understatement, but we all know that you are in a better place than us all. I'll always remember the first time you took a little old country boy like me out of town and I was the most excited young man in Rocky Mount, NC. You asked my mom and when she said yes, I was jumping up and down and running through the house like I had hit the lottery, and all I can remember is that laugh of yours that lights up a room. Man and you knew my love of big trucks so that was even better getting to ride in a big truck to New York City. I mentioned this moment at my retirement ceremony from the military. No one knows how special that moment was for me and I am always grateful for that. As we grew on in life we would discuss fishing and barbecuing, two of our favorite things and I must say you were good at both cuzzo. Well God has called you home cuz, and we will miss you dearly back here but we know that we will meet again someday and until then rest in peace Butch until we meet again. Love you and will miss you dearly.
