Obituary of Johnnie St. Clair

Please share a memory of Johnnie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John (Johnnie) St. Clair, age 77, passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 19, 2021 after fighting a heroic battle with lung cancer for 5 years.

John was born in Hensley, West Virginia. He graduated from Welch High School in 1963. After high school, the family moved to Bridgeton, NJ. John attended Cumberland County College, Cummins and Mack Schools. In 1967, he met the love of his life, Roseann (Pace) and married in 1969. They were married for 52 years.

What John loved the most was being with his children and grandchildren. He was known as "Mr. Fix-it" and could repair anything from a broken toy to a car. John was a very simple, loving "gentle" man and never complained during his cancer treatments. He was full of life and always smiling and joking around.

John loved to be called by his birth name "Johnnie." He worked at National Freight, Trico and the Courtyard School where he was fondly known as "Mr. John." While at National Freight, he was a Vice President and President of the local 15327 Steelworkers Union. A member of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, he was an Usher and member of the Family Life Committee. John was also a member of the Vineland Jaycees, Italian Cultural Foundation of South Jersey, Sacred Heart High School Drama Club, Parents Support Club at St. Augustine Prep High School and Bishop Schad and St. Mary's School Grandparents Club. He was a St. Vincent DePaul Supporter and an active member of the St. Padre Pio Shrine Rosary Association.

In his past time, John enjoyed watching the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers and Sixers games with family and friends. He loved working in his yard, enjoying his pool, reading history books, taking videos of family and events and listening to music, especially to the "oldies." He enjoyed traveling and his favorite trips were driving cross-country in his Camaro on Route 66 and Disney World with his grandchildren. John was a faithful man who was dedicated to praying the rosary everyday and attending Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

John is predeceased by his parents, Fred and Dulcy St. Clair; brothers, Freddy and Tom; his sisters, Brenda Arnade and Susie St. Clair and his infant children, Jonathan and Noelle.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Roseann (Pace) St. Clair; children, Stephanie Budelman (Robert) and John St. Clair Jr. (Shannon); his 7 grandchildren, Maria, Bosco, Evangeline, Luke, Christopher Budelman and Connor and Parker St. Clair; sisters, Doris Alibrando, Julie Caudill and Ruth Elwell (Denny); brother, Jerry (Sharon) St Clair and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
