Obituary of Anthony Monteleone Sr.
Mr. Anthony “Monty” Monteleone, Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by many family and friends on Thursday November 7, 2024. Anthony was born in Antonimina,Calabria, Italy on March 5, 1933 to Pietro and Francesca Monteleone. He immigrated to New Jersey, via Ellis Island, at the age of 18. He was an active member of Calvary Chapel Vineland and lived everyday as a Christian, modeling his passion to others.
Monty was truly a pillar in the community, a man of integrity, charm, witt, intelligence, kindness, generosity and love. Involved in many local organizations, he enjoyed every social interaction and others benefitted from knowing him. Along with his wife Elaine, they created a strong bond that centered around their family and friends.
As an entrepreneur, he started Monty’s Tire Center in Vineland over 70 years ago. The business continues to reflect his dedication to the community. Offering assistance to anyone in need, he always put others ahead of himself. Monty’s family and his business were his world. The connections he made with friends, family and even strangers brought him joy and that joy spread to all who knew him. Monty continued to work until his last days doing what he loved the most.
He was predeceased by his wife Elaine Monteleone of 51 years, his sister Maria, brother Frank and sister in law Mary Monteleone, and sister Lena and brother in law Marcello Zucca, and many sisters and brothers in law.
Pop Monty was blessed with 3 children, Sandy and son in law Raymond Brown; Anthony and daughter in law Lynn Monteleone; and Diane and son in law Brian Pooley. He surrounded himself with his grandchildren,Raymond, (Sybille), Mandy,(Evan), Alexis, Adam, Brett, Nicole, (Daniel) and also his 3 great grandchildren Lucille, Fiona and Genevive. He is also survived by his sister in law, Mrs.Carol Monteleone, many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Calvary Chapel Vineland or a charity that is close to your heart, in memory of Pop Monty.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home in Vineland, NJ from 10:00 to 11:00 AM; a service will follow. Interment will be at Siloam Cemetery in VIneland.
